Love is a matter of lifestyle and will. In a world of sentimentality and sensuality we prefer to think of love in terms of concrete actions that demonstrate our genuine compassion for all people. (see Core Practices)
We believe that the Bible is the final authority for all matters of faith and practice. Not in a wooden, fundamentalist way, but in a living, active dialogue that both encourages and challenges God’s people.
The Bible clearly teaches that we have a purpose on the Earth. That purpose (or mission) is to take God’s story of love and redemption wherever we are and wherever we go. His story of grace, mercy, forgiveness, and healing is the most wonderful news we know! We desire to humbly and reverently take his good news to as many people through as many avenues as possible.
God is the Creator of everyone and everything. He says that he is making a people for Himself that is made up of those from every group on the Earth. This means that we must actively seek connection with people from all cultures, ethnicities, economic situations, and social positions.
God creates people on purpose and saves them specifically. Our task as a church is to help people understand who they are “in Christ” and what He is calling them to do. It is a maturing process that takes place in the community of faith. It is not an assembly line approach, but rather, it is akin to crafting individual pieces of art with God as the artist and his Word, his people, and life as his tools.
God calls and saves people and brings them together in relationship. We call this group of people the church. But church is not a static thing. That is why we seek to prepare all of our members to go forth and plant their own churches should God call them to do so. This way, our members will be poised to bring light to the community, to the city, and to the world.
